If you do not want to get attacked by bats,vultures or wake up sleeping animals and you need to go past them use the d-pad(the 4 directional arrows on the left of your controller)it worked for me and I havent been attacked since then.

Q: I'm having trouble getting the heavy stone near the bats in the cave so I can go to the snow place how can I get past it without getting attacked all the time?
A1: Walk through using the directional button so you "sneak" past the bats.
A2: Walk when youre near the bats
A3: Walk or sniff everywhere. (Sorry if this is wrong, I have wii version)
When you get near one, dig then RUN! RUN until you hear no more flapping.
A4: I usually sniff so I can go past the bats and so I can sniff out the stones at the same time
